Coach Karlos Griffin - Varsity
Karlos Griffin has 18 years of coaching and administrative experience in youth athletics with a strong focus on the development of children and young adult by assisting them with their athletic and academic goals. Karlos is entering his 7th season as a Head Coach with the RFC Organization. Karlos has also served in the past as a Head Coach, Defensive Coordinator and Administrator for the Michigan Warriors and Ypsilanti Panthers working with children ages 5-14.
Karlos began his youth football career at age 8 and continued to play football in high school at Ferndale High School where he was a 3 year varsity team member and he also was a member of the basketball and track teams. Karlos earned All-Conference and All-County honors in both football and track in high school and honorable mention All-State honors in 1993 for football. He continued his football career collegiately at Bowling Green State University for 3 seasons as a Wide Receiver and Defensive Back.
Coach Griffin resides in Rochester Hills with his wife Angela and 3 daughters Naomi (21), Makaiya (18) and Mahni (9). Coach Griffin and his family love being a part of the Rochester community and RFC organization!
Coach Mike Bentley - JV Gold
Mike Bentley is beginning his 6th season with the RFC Organization and his fourth year as Head Coach. He also spent two years as an assistant on the Jr. Freshmen Gold, including the Jamboree Champion team of 2017.
Coach Bentley began playing youth football in 5th grade for the Shelby Lions and continued through High school at Utica Eisenhower. Coach Bentley has also spent the last several years coaching youth baseball and basketball teams.
Coach Bentley resides in Rochester Hills with his wife Melissa, three sons and their dog Boomer. Coach Bentley's 3 sons have all played for the Rochester RFC Organization, this year his youngest, Owen will play on JV Gold. His oldest will be Freshman at Stoney Creek.
Coach Fady Bazzi - JV Maroon
Fady Bazzi is entering his 8th year coaching with the RFC Organization and returns this year as Head Coach. He was part of the coaching staff that made it to the semi-finals in 2015, took second place in the 2016 Super Bowl, undefeated Super Bowl Champions 2017, 2018, and 2019. Fady also played and coached football at the youth and high school levels.
Coach Bazzi resides in Oakland Township with his wife Mirvat. They will have 1 son in the program (Jawad - 5th Year RFC) and another son (Adam - 6 Year RFC) preparing for his 2nd year on Stoney Creek Varsity Football. They also have a daughter Mariam who will be a Freshman in the fall at the University of Michigan School of Engineering/Ross BBA program.
Coach Bryan Heckman - Freshman Gold
Bryan Heckman is starting his 4th season (‘16,’17,’19) as head coach, 5th in total with the RFC Organization. Head coach of the ‘17 and ‘19 Junior freshman Jamboree and Superbowl championship teams, respectively.
Bryan played high school football at Portage Central High School. After high school, Bryan earned 4 varsity letters in football at Albion College, playing on 3 conference championship teams.
After college, Bryan worked with several different high school programs serving various roles and retired last year from officiating MHSAA football.
Coach Bryan resides in Oakland Township with his wife Lori and their three sons - Bradley (JV Gold), Jeremy (Freshman Gold), and Ryder (future RFC).
Coach Nick Smith - Freshman Maroon
Nick Smith will begin his first year coaching with the RFC Organization. In 2020 he coached North Oakland Catholic’s Freshman team to a Catholic League championship as well as a nationally ranked flag football team that has finished in the top 5 in the country each of the past 3 seasons. He has a coaching background that includes working with both youth and high school athletes, speed and agility training, and has coached at various football camps and clinics such as with Hard Count Athletics, Calvin Johnson Football Camp, Al Fracassa QB Camp, Believe to Achieve Youth Football Camp, NFL Flag-Girls Football Camp, etc.
Coach Smith was a multi-sport student athlete that began playing football in the 7th grade. He continued to play 4 seasons of varsity football in high school at Whittemore-Prescott and Bishop Foley, and later went on to play football at Ferris State University. In addition to athletics, Coach Smith is also a Veteran of the Unities States Marine Corps and has worked professionally for the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers and Detroit Pistons.
Nick lives in Lake Orion with his wife Beth and two children, Brock (Freshman Maroon) and Naomi.
Coach Dave Markey - Junior Freshman
Dave Markey coached tackle football for 4 years and is entering his third season ('18,"19) with the RFC Organization.
Coach Markey played high school football, basketball and baseball at Troy Athens High School. In college, Dave earned 4 varsity letters in baseball at Adrian College and was awarded all conference and regional honors on two championship teams. After College, Dave has coached and officiated in multiple sports at the youth level for over 9 years.
Coach Markey resides in Oakland Township with his wife Stephanie and their two sons - Brayden (Freshman Gold) and Ethan (JR Freshman Gold).
